The Cinemassacre Podcast...a lot can be said about James Rolfe's newest brainchild. Well, any fan of the YouTube channel is aware of the podcast by now.
It has been active for a few months now. And it has been getting very mixed reviews. On one hand. You have the newer fans of the channel. A lot of them basically love anything Cinemassacre puts out. I'm not faulting them for that.
And then you have the long-time fans and truthers. I'm a long-time fan myself, since the early years. Many of the original fans have a lot of problems with the new content.
The Cinemassacre Truth subreddit is a place where many people have ripped the podcast apart.
I'M A TRUTHER MYSELF
I don't hate the podcast, but I think it could use some work. My problem with it is that they don't talk very much about current events.
It doesn't have to be mainstream news, but they should talk about things going on on the internet or gaming culture or something like that.
They mostly just talk about themselves and their life experiences. Which is ok, nothing wrong with that, but there's only so much you can talk about yourself, you know?
I'm not bashing the show.
It has some really cool elements, like the set design, the intro, the format, etc. A lot of fans probably didn't want a podcast, they wanted them to focus more on the AVGN episodes.
I feel they need to put most of their efforts into the AVGN series and release a handful of very high-quality episodes per year.
I WISH THEM THE BEST
But I really wish them luck with the podcast I hope it works out well for them. I think with a few little tweaks it could be really awesome.
I admire them for having the courage to start a podcast. The question is, what are they going to do after this?
How long are they going to keep their podcast going? It's hard to say. They have started a few projects that they abandoned after a while.
SPREADING THEMSELVES THIN?
Which is natural for any channel. But I hate to see them start too many things. My feeling is that they should focus more on the Angry Video Game Nerd series.
That is their flagship product. That's where their bread and butter is.
