That is the question you might be wondering: is retro game collecting becoming too expensive? Well, I guess you could say, it depends on who you ask. For some people, spending 100 dollars on a game is nothing at all.
For other people, they'd prefer not to spend that much. Some games now are going for multiple thousands of dollars. Like Neo Geo games for example.
THEY INCREASE IN VALUE
Those are becoming increasingly valuable. But all retro games are becoming more valuable as time goes on.
Still, it is not too late to get a lot of great games at really low prices.
It kind of depends on where you look on the internet as well.
There are sites like DKoldies that have many great games to choose from.
Some of them you can get for under 5 bucks!
IT'S NOT TOO LATE
Yes, it's true. It is definitely not too late to start game collecting. I recently got serious about my collection and have found some absolutely great bargains from different websites.
And I went to a local flea market type place and got Modern Warfare 3 for only 1.00! Can you believe it? This game is actually worth more than a buck.
Even if you're not looking to spend very much, you can still grab so many games for under 10 bucks a pop.
But consoles are a different story. A lot of older consoles are actually becoming very expensive to collect.
Like the Neo Geo or Sega Saturn. If you're going to start collecting those, you better jump on it quick. You're going to have to spend quite a bit on them. Of course, you can always play games on emulators or on the Everdrive or something like that.
IT'S ALL ABOUT PHYSICAL COPIES
But for the true collector, our passion is to be able to hold the physical pieces in our hands. There's something magic about that indeed.
Have you ever gone to a thrift store or garage sale, and found a game that you love? Remember that feeling when you hold it in your hand? It brings a wave over you.
COLLECTING FEELS AMAZING
It's like holding the original Super Mario Bros. in your hand for me. That's a feeling like no other. There's some magic in collecting that actual cartridges, game boxes, accessories, etc.
It's all just so awesome. Any true collector knows what I'm talking about.
